TreeNotes for iPhone

The iPhone app uses the same end-to-end-encrypted account as the web and Mac apps. Sign in with your existing TreeNotes username and password, or with Google or Apple. There is no separate App Store password for your notes, and we cannot reset your password or encryption passphrase if it is lost.

Common questions

I forgot my password. Can you reset it?

No. TreeNotes is end-to-end encrypted, so your password never leaves your device in a form we can use. The same applies to the encryption passphrase of a Google or Apple account. We cannot reset either or decrypt your notes. Store it in a password manager. If you still have a signed-in session on another device, you can change the password there in account settings.

How do I sign in on iPhone?

Open TreeNotes and sign in with the same username and password you use on the web or Mac. If your account uses Google or Apple, choose Continue with Google or Continue with Apple, then enter your encryption passphrase to unlock your tree. After the first sign-in you can enable Quick Unlock with Face ID or your device passcode.

My notes are not appearing on this device.

Confirm you signed in with the same account. On iPhone, if you started while offline, use Reconnect or Sign in to sync once you are back online. Notes that exist only in an unsynced local vault on another device need that device online so they can upload.

How do I delete my account and data?

On iPhone, open Account & settings and choose Delete account. You can also delete from the web on the delete-account page. Deletion is immediate and permanent — we cannot recover notes afterwards.

How do I manage my subscription?

Paid TreeNotes plans are billed on the web. Open Pricing or sign in at treenotes.com to change or cancel a plan. The iPhone app uses the same account entitlements; it does not sell a separate in-app subscription.

Can TreeNotes staff read my notes?

No. Notes are encrypted on your device before they reach our servers. We store ciphertext we cannot read. See the security page and the privacy policy.

Which devices does TreeNotes support?

TreeNotes is available on the web, as a native Mac app, and as an iPhone app. Windows and Android apps are in progress. Your encrypted tree syncs across the devices you are signed in on.

How do I report a problem with the iPhone app?

Email support@treenotes.com with your iOS version, device model, and what you expected to happen. Screenshots help. Please do not send your password or the contents of your notes.

Someone keeps sharing unwanted things with me. What can I do?

Shared items only reach you as invitations; nothing is added to your tree until you accept. Decline the invitation, or leave an item you already accepted. To report the sender, tap Report on the invitation in the app, or email support@treenotes.com with their username. We review every report and close accounts that misuse sharing. We cannot read encrypted content, so describe what happened in your message.

Delete your account

You can delete your TreeNotes account and all associated data at any time. This is also available in the iPhone app under Account & settings.
